I’ve created a wide range of assets for VFX productions—cars, motorcycles, trams, trains, and then more cars, more motorcycles... and more of everything. At some point, I’ll be sharing parts of the modeling-to-lookdev pipelines I’ve developed along the way—workflows that not only gave me speed and quality but also allowed for robust iteration and better collaboration with other production departments.

In VFX, every shot has its own specific demands. Overbuilding should often be avoided, as the average production time for a mid-range asset typically ranges from one to four days. That’s why it’s essential for VFX supervisors to plan the budget wisely and determine whether an asset is meant to be a hero piece or serve as a supporting element in the background.

For this airplane, I was given a tight deadline, so my focus was on achieving a strong silhouette, clean topology, and reliable texturing—just enough to make the asset work convincingly in the final shot. Good lighting always benefits from solid shaders and textures, and in the end, this one proved to be a good fit.
